Two of AVR’s drivers are also the team principals. Shane and Sam can provide the development drivers with incredible on track guidance in addition to focused and relevant off track training. The following are the team’s current lineup. Contact us if you would like to be part of this team.
Andre Du Preez
Andre, now 16, made his Formula 1200 debut in the #24 BRD with AVR Motorsports at just 15 years old. Coming from racing go-karts in South Africa, Andre had limited experience driving anything with suspension on it. Andre learned a great deal in the 2012 racing season, and will look to further improve going into the 2014 season as a rookie in the F1600 series.
Reid, 18 years old, began racing with AVR Motorsports in 2012 in the F1200 series after winning a test session with the team in 2011. Reid finished 2nd for Rookie of the Year, racing a limited schedule. In a year that had a lot of learning curves, Reid was very competitive by the end of the year, consistently turning times equal with the top drivers. Reid will be campaigning the DPGI Print Solutions Piper for 2014 in the F1600 Series
Shane has been racing since 2006, starting with vintage formula vee’s until 2009. From 2009-2011, Shane campaigned the #27 Gladiator F1200. In 2012, Shane raced the #27 Protoform P3 in a select number of races, and will be running the Protoform again on a limited schedule for 2014. In the Formula 1200 series, Shane has had a top race finish of 2nd place, with the best season finish of 6th place overall.
Sam is the veteran driver with AVR, having completed several seasons in the #26 Black Hole. Sam was hard at work concentrating on the development of the AVR business for the 2010 and directing the race management for all the events. Sam managed to race at the popular Calabogie event bringing home a respectable 11th. He will be racing the #27 Protoform P3 on a limited schedule for the 2014 racing season.
Kevin won the inaugural Master’s Championship in the FTDA with AVR Motorsports in 2011 in his second full season racing F1200’s. In 2010 Kevin was runner up for Rookie of the year. In 2012, he defended his Master’s Championship, winning it for a 2nd straight season. He will be returning for 2014 with his Womer EV-3 F1200 and will be supported by the talented crew at AVR Motorsports.
