AVR Motorsports 2012 Track Day – Race Cars or Street Cars

Positive Outlook After Round 1

Round 1 at Mosport saw a three car entered by the AVR team.  Returning with high expectations, Andrew Waring and Kevin Deevey driving the #22 Protoform and #68 Womer respectively.  Rookie driver Reid Arnold had his first taste of the Formula 1200 series in the #25 BRD.  The AVR team would be battling engine issues with Andrew and Reid all weekend.  Andrew would drive superbly to keep with the lead pack, keeping within a couple of seconds of the leader in all races, and finishing with two 6th place finishes and a 5th.  Reid would be forced to retire from the first race, but would then come back with a 12th and 10th place in races 2 and 3, finishing … Read More

Looking forward to the 2012 racing season, AVR Motorsports has every reason to be setting their goals high.  Andrew Waring will be returning in the #22 Protoform P2.  Andrew finished strong in the 2011 season with 2 wins and 6 podium finishes in the final 6 races of the year, along with clinching the Rookie of the Year title.  Andrew will be gunning to knock off the 4 time defending series Champion, Michael Iamundi, for the overall title.  Also returning will be Kevin Deevey in his new Womer F1200.  Kevin will be defending the Masters title, which he dominated last season winning 8 of a possible 18 class victories. After a successful 2011 season, AVR has quickly turned pace, looking forward to the 2012 Formula 1200 season.  Just a couple of weeks after the season finale, Andrew Waring signed on with AVR Motorsports for a second season.  Both Andrew and AVR are extremely happy and excited about the upcoming season.  Andrew will be in the #22 Protoform, vying to knock off Michael Iamundi from the top and go for a championship title. Battle for Vallis Cup Comes Down to Last Corner

With the Overall Championship locked up by Michael Iamundi, the Master’s Championship locked up by AVR’s Kevin Deevey, and AVR’s Andrew Waring in strong control of the Rookie Championship, all eyes were locked on the Vallis Cup.  The winner of this prestigious award is the top points finisher over the three races throughout the weekend. Heading into the 5th of 6 weekends of the Formula 1200 series, AVR took a slightly different look into Mosport.  Staying consistent in his weekends, Kevin Deevey took a big lead in the Masters points into the weekend.  In the other seat, Andrew Waring came out of week 4 without the rookie points lead for the first time since round 1, two points back of David Taylor.  In an attempt to shake things up, AVR decided to put Andrew in the #22 Protoform, a very different car from the #24 BRD which he had driven until now.  The lay down style car proved to be exactly what was needed to make a killer combination.
