Positive Outlook After Round 1

Round 1 at Mosport saw a three car entered by the AVR team.  Returning with high expectations, Andrew Waring and Kevin Deevey driving the #22 Protoform and #68 Womer respectively.  Rookie driver Reid Arnold had his first taste of the Formula 1200 series in the #25 BRD.  The AVR team would be battling engine issues with Andrew and Reid all weekend.  Andrew would drive superbly to keep with the lead pack, keeping within a couple of seconds of the leader in all races, and finishing with two 6th place finishes and a 5th.  Reid would be forced to retire from the first race, but would then come back with a 12th and 10th place in races 2 and 3, finishing as the top rookie driver in each of the races.  Kevin would have a very respectable first weekend out in the new Womer, finishing 9th in race 1, and 10th in race 2.  Race 3 would take a turn the wrong way as Kevin would run too wide out of turn 3 on the last lap, coming into contact with the wall.

The AVR team has a very positive outlook looking into round 2 at Shannonville.  All drivers showed lots of speed and significant improvements as the weekend progressed.  Andrew is currently 5th in points (184), 94 points out of first.  Kevin is currently 2nd in Masters points (266), just 12 points out of first.  Reid is 2nd in rookie points (80), 38 points from the top spot.
